Overview
Salda Lake And Pamukkale Excursion Alanya
Alanya to Salda Lake and Pamukkale Tour is a daily nature and culture tour we organize, featuring Salda Lake, known as "Turkey's Maldives," and the world-renowned Pamukkale, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Our first stop, Salda Lake, is located approximately 285 km northwest of Alanya. Salda Lake boasts Turkey's cleanest water and is one of the deepest lakes in Turkey, reaching a depth of 184 meters. Estimated to have formed around 2 million years ago, the lake's water is slightly salty and highly alkaline. Nestled amidst mountains in Burdur, Denizli, and Antalya, Salda Lake has preserved its natural beauty away from main roads. The lake's natural park, with its white sandy beaches, pine and juniper-covered forests, creates a stunning combination of greenery and the clear blue sky. Salda Lake's white sands and turquoise waters often draw comparisons to the Maldives, earning it the nickname "Turkey's Maldives." You'll have the opportunity to swim in Salda Lake and take a stroll along its shores.
Our second destination on the Alanya to Salda Lake and Pamukkale Tour is the world-famous Pamukkale with its calcium terraces and the adjacent ancient city of Hierapolis. Pamukkale is approximately 365 km from Alanya and is one of Turkey's major tourist destinations, attracting millions of domestic and international visitors annually. Pamukkale's stunning white appearance resembling a cotton castle is formed by the deposition of calcium from thermal spring waters meeting cold air. The thermal water, with a temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius, is believed to have therapeutic properties. You can swim and walk on the terraces of Pamukkale and capture breathtaking photographs.
Hierapolis, founded in the 2nd century BC, translates to "Holy City" and thrived during the Roman era. It was where the Apostle Philip lived and is an important religious pilgrimage site for Christians. The ruins of the city, including an ancient theater, column-lined streets, an old cemetery, and sarcophagi, spread across a vast area and are remarkable structures worth exploring.
Adjacent to the Pamukkale terraces and on the lower side of Hierapolis lies the Ancient Cleopatra Thermal Pool. Named after the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra due to legends suggesting she bathed here, the pool contains ancient column and wall fragments carried by natural events of the ancient city. The pool's thermal water, with a temperature of 36 degrees Celsius year-round, is believed to have healing properties, with legends claiming it rejuvenates those who bathe in it. You can swim in the Ancient Cleopatra Pool for an additional fee.
